This is a fun little story that - as other readers have noted - one could easily see being made into a Twilight Zone episode. The writing is strong and it is clear the author has real talents. I thought the dialouge especially was good and very believable (something too many authors struggle with).
The story's ending however is very predictable. i must say I was onto the ending within the first dozen pages.
I also found the plot in many ways unbelievable. I will try not to give anything away, but after reading this story ask yourself: Is this a role someone who could be in the AARP should be playing? On a similar note - wouldn't some "delegation" here make sense (someone who doesn't work with those people every day)? Finally we all know government isn't known for efficiency, but after a couple division heads like "Mr. Rollins - wouldn't things in this agency quickly go to hell in a hand basket?
Don't let these criticisms deter you too much. This was a good, fun read - one you really can't put down upon starting.

Retirement Day Don Foy 9781491069806 Books Reviews
I really liked this short film, very clever story. Thought it was worth the 1.99. I liked that it was not too long and it kept my attention.
For the author's first published work (as far as I can tell) it was surpisingly concise, with minimal extraneous/useless plot development that seems to be so commonplace for first works today. A little predictable, but entertaining. It was an enjoyable, quick read on a recent flight.
An excellent story, short and sweet but still managed to paint a detailed, colorful picture full of dark thrills and satisfying realism.
A fun read/talented author
This was a creepy 'what if' scenario, and kept my interest throughout the book. It did have a "Twilight Zone" quality.
Rod Serling could have turned this into an entertaining and absorbing episode.
Hopefully, Don Foy will publish more for us to enjoy....
I really liked this story--it was well written with an eerie tone. Reminded me of a really good Twilight Zone episode. I'd like to see more stories by this author.
I agree with the other reviewers that this story reads like something that I would’ve expected to see on the Twilight Zone. Retirement in this case is definitely permanent. The only catch is who will retire at the end. I enjoyed this short story so well that I will definitely read the author’s work whenever I can find it.
